Literacy Project: Help Students Retell Stories
By the end of Kindergarten, students need to be able to, with prompting and support, retell familiar stories, including key details, characters, setting and major events. Help Family Services of Westchester's Head Start students prepare for Kindergarten by creating tools that will bring a book alive for them.
Volunteers are needed to put together activity packets for Head Start students that will help them retell The Little Red Hen to their families.
Volunteers are needed to make puppets that will be used by students.
Join us--whether for one activity packet, a few or for an hour--throughout the afternoon.
This project is a part of 9/11: Serve + Remember.
*This is a family-friendly project for children 10 and over with an adult. If you are volunteering with with young children, please be prepared to assist them. Thanks!
