In our community it's difficult to get around without a car and the need for volunteer drivers has never been more critical. The following is a list of nonprofit organizations that coordinate volunteer drivers to help our neighbors get to routine appointments (which can include dialysis and chemotherapy, etc.), take care of errands and get groceries, or in times of high need, i.e., during emergencies.

 

Sometimes being a driver can be as simple as a 20 minute ride across town, as shown in this video below. That simple gift of a ride helps reduce stress and the indignity of being stranded at home or without the ability to get where you need to go when you do not have the means. It also helps to see a friendly face from time to time. A little kindness can go a long way.
