2021-2023 HSE Connect! Tutors for Adults - Virtual
The Westchester Library System is seeking Volunteer Study Coaches to help adults earn their high school equivalency (HSE) diplomas. HSE Connect!'s adult students seek to pass the GED exam, which is the test required by NYS Department of education to demonstrate high school-level proficiency in reading, writing, math, science, and social studies.
Pause to consider the challenge of taking the time now—as an adult—to learn and apply all that you ingested during high school! It is a significant task.
To support an adult student, volunteer coaches should be passionate about lifelong learning and willing to join the student on this journey. In addition to creatively offering patience, humor, and encouragement, coaches are asked to become proficient in navigating a few online resources that the Westchester Library System uses to support the student's learning.
Volunteers may meet with the students in person at local libraries or via phone or video conferencing. All training, curriculum, and materials are supplied. The volunteer requirement time is approximately 2-3 hours per week. Volunteers may be assigned one or more students.
Age Minimum (with Adult): 19+, Minimum Age:19+
