Long Term Care Ombudsman
The Ombudsman Program is an advocate and resource for older adults and people with disabilities who live in nursing homes, assisted living, and other adult care homes. Certified Ombudsmen are needed to help residents understand and exercise their rights to good care and an environment that promotes and protects their dignity and quality of life.
Local volunteer opportunities are available in facilities throughout Westchester, Rockland, and Putnam Counties. These volunteer opportunities are flexible and provide resident-centered advocacy in long-term care facilities. Volunteers will be provided with free training.
Ombudsmen are especially needed in the following areas:
- Cortlandt Manor
- Dobbs Ferry
- Haverstraw
- New Rochelle
- Peekskill
- Rye
- Spring Valley
- White Plains
- Yonkers
