Hygiene Kits for Babies

Did you know that SNAP benefits, commonly known as food stamps, do not cover hygiene products? Thousands of cash-strapped families are struggling right now to provide food and shelter, and hygiene products—including essentials for newborns and babies—have become a luxury they cannot afford. Food pantries where these families may receive assistance do not offer any of these items.

Volunteers are needed to help address this basic human need (and reduce a stress on new parents) by collecting and assembling essential items into Hygiene Kits to keep newborns and young infants clean and protect them from diaper rash.

Each kit should be packed in two-gallon size zip-close bags and should contain:

  • Unscented baby wipes (pack)
  • Baby washcloths (pack)
  • Baby shampoo
  • Diaper rash cream
  • Unscented lotion such as Eucerin or Aveeno
  • Baby or toddler toothbrush (appropriate for up to age 2)
