2022-2023 Academic Mentors for Elementary School Kids - White Plains
Family Service Society of Yonkers is looking for Volunteer Mentors to help elementary-aged children at schools in White Plains to build their reading skills. During one-on-one weekly sessions, volunteers will be matched with a student and provided with reading materials and worksheets. This is an ideal opportunity for retirees and seniors.
Volunteer Mentor requirements:
- Must be 60+
- Must be able to commit to weekly sessions from approximately October 2022 through May 2023
- Must be able to commit to in-person sessions during the school day or immediately after school (times to be scheduled depending upon the school)
- Must travel to White Plains (address to be provided once volunteer passes screening)
- Must be fully vaccinated for COVID-19 (please note: students may not be vaccinated)
- Masks may be required depending upon the school
