Caregiver Center Ambassadors
Burke Rehabilitation Center's Marsal Caregiver Center serves as a respite and resource to promote the well-being of caregivers through compassionate support and a healing environment.
Volunteer Caregiver Center Ambassadors are needed to warmly welcome caregivers into the Center, provide information about Burke Rehabilitation Hospital and other community resources, and to provide emotional support and practical assistance that family caregivers need while their loved one is being treated at Burke.
Caregiver Ambassadors:
- Have excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Are effective communicators and listeners
- Enjoy meeting and helping people and exhibit a caring, approachable demeanor
- Are sensitive and compassionate
- Are able to remain calm and objective during occasional upsetting circumstances
- Work well as a team member and independently
- Honor confidentiality of patient's medical information
- Demonstrate good judgment, tact, and discretion when dealing with patients, families, visitors, and staff
Time commitment:
- Weekly 3-hour shifts from either 10 a.m.-1 p.m. or 2-5 p.m.
- Monthly meeting of Caregiver Center Ambassadors
- Training and mentoring provided
Previous experience in the fields of health care, social work, nursing, psychology, counseling, and education are a plus, but not required. Express interest below!
