2022-2023 After-School Volunteers for Elementary Kids - Ossining
The United Way of Westchester and Putnam is looking for volunteers to help mentor and tutor students in first and second grade after school. Volunteers promote positive youth development by leading or assisting with group activities and providing academic support, including sharing their hobbies, skills, and talents with students; assisting instructors; and helping with homework. This program runs Monday through Thursday from 3:20 p.m. to 6:35 p.m.
Examples of Enrichment subjects:
- Fitness and Nutrition
- STEM in Nature
- Journalism
- Financial Literacy
- Career Exploration
- Drama
- Writer's Workshop
- Science Experiments
- Project Based Learning
Volunteers must:
- Be punctual
- Be resourceful
- Be able to follow directions
- Be able to establish good relationships with program participants
- Be able to maintain discipline, tact, courtesy, and good judgment
- Pass a background check
Experience working with elementary school students is helpful, but not required. An orientation is provided. Bilingual (Spanish/English) and senior or retired individuals are encouraged to express interest!
Age Minimum (with Adult): 14+, Minimum Age:16+
