MLK Day 2023 - Volunteers to Sort Much-Needed Medical Supplies

Since 2008, Afya Foundation has been fulfilling its mission to improve healthcare delivery in underserved communities around the world. Afya accomplishes this goal by coordinating with local medical professionals on the ground and facilitating customized shipments of rescued surplus medical supplies and equipment that improve local health systems. Its regional network of medical supply donors and volunteers enables Afya to meet immediate humanitarian needs in areas devastated by natural disasters or public health crises in tandem with its long-term programs to address chronic health disparities.

Volunteers are needed to help sort through donated consumable, personal care, surgical, and humanitarian supplies. These sorted goods will be included in shipments to the Caribbean, Africa, and local health systems.

IMPORTANT:

• All volunteers must be fully COVID-19 vaccinated. Proof of vaccination must be shown prior to entering the sorting area. All volunteers must wear a mask during their volunteer shift.
• Volunteers must be at least 16 years old to participate for this event. Children ages 5-16 may participate in this event so long as they are registered as part of an adult's team. All children ages 5-16 must be with an adult at all times and fill out a youth waiver.

This activity requires volunteers to register on a separate website. To volunteer:

1. If registering by yourself: click "Sign Up" below.
   If registering with one or more other people or if registering a child ages 5-16 as part of your team: click "Sign Up with a Family, Group, or Team." You will be first asked to create or select your team, including each team member's full name, contact information, and age.
2. After completing step #1, you will receive a confirmation email with a special link to complete your registration in Afya's volunteer portal. You MUST complete this step because it includes Afya's liability waiver and publicity consent form. Volunteers who do not complete this step will not be registered!
