Volunteer and Community Engagement Coordinator

Want to make a difference with human rights, international humanitarian work, and migration law with others? Westchester Jewish Coalition of Immigration is seeking a Volunteer and Community Engagement Coordinator to recruit and support volunteers to help WJCI's programs, communications, advocacy, finance, and grants for refugee resettlement. Play a vital role in welcoming refugee families in Westchester, Rockland, or the northern Bronx and advocate for the legal status, rights, dignity, and equitable treatment of all immigrants.

Primary responsibilities:

• Help build and maintain systems for managing and supporting volunteers and the relevant data for a new and growing organization, including application, database, communications, and tracking systems
• Coordinate the recruitment, screening, and placement of volunteers to support WJCI programs, partnerships, advocacy, and operations
• Serve as an internal contact point for WJCI volunteers, fielding requests for volunteers and making internal referrals for open positions
• Represent WJCI externally at community events and organizations to conduct outreach

Qualifications/skills:

• Genuine interest and passion for issues that revolve around the immigrant community
• Good social and verbal communication skills
• Organizational skills including computer software/spreadsheet database management
• Collaborative, nurturing, caring nature
• Prior experience coordinating volunteers is a plus!

Commitment:

• Approximately 15-20 hours per month
