Global Scholars Youth Program Coordinator
Travel Unity, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on increasing diversity in the world of travel, is seeking a volunteer to help facilitate its four-week Global Scholars Program for youth. During the Global Scholars program, youth ages 14 to 18 join virtual sessions focused on cultural exchange, leadership skills, and exposure to both travel as an experience and as a possible career path. The Global Scholar Program (GSP) Coordinator is responsible for the planning, facilitation, and reporting of this program. The Coordinator will ensure that the meeting is a fun, safe, and supported space for young people.
Responsibilities:
- Plan, organize and facilitate a weekly agenda for participants in the Global Scholars Program
- Assist with identifying and implementing different instructional methods to meet the participants' varying needs
- Perform administrative functions including taking attendance, reporting participant performance, and updating the project monitoring sheet on a weekly basis
- Prepare session materials
- Coordinate with guest speakers
- Support young people interested in travel with developing their confidence, knowledge, and critical thinking skills
- Assist with the design and implementation of retention strategies to increase participation and retain youth participants
- Other duties as assigned that support the success of the Global Scholars Program
Requirements:
- Experience engaging and leading young people in a group environment and implementing group activities
- Demonstrated organizational and time management skills
- Ability to be self-directed
- Able to host virtual meetings through Zoom
- Working knowledge of Google Classroom
Time commitment:
- Available 1-2 days during after-school hours (6-8 p.m.) for a total of about 5 hours per week
- Available for 2-week training
