2023 Volunteer College Coaches
Volunteer College Coaches partner with Latino U College Access (LUCA) to guide college-bound seniors through the complexities of the college admissions process. Latino U Scholars are students who have demonstrated academic ability and dream of becoming the first in their families to graduate from college.
Volunteer College Coaches support Scholars—either individually or in a virtual classroom—from June of their junior year through May of their senior year as they develop college lists, write college essays, and complete the Common Application. Coaches are trained to provide culturally-relevant guidance and encouragement as Scholars strive to make their college dreams a reality.
Work Requirements:
- Volunteer Coaches must be college graduates with strong computer proficiency, excellent communication skills, and experience with the admissions process (either for themselves, their children, or supporting students)
- Coaches must pass a required background check annually
Time Commitment:
- College Coaches must participate in several mandatory training sessions during the summer and make a year-long commitment
- Coaches must be able to meet with their Scholars (virtually or in person) at least once per week
Age Minimum (with Adult): 25+, Minimum Age:25+
