Board Member (Marketing)

Homeless Remedies is a nonprofit that aims to help homeless individuals achieve self-sufficiency and to improve the quality of life for the underserved. It is seeking a Board Member and marketing professional to assist with its marketing and public relations needs.

Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in marketing, public relations, or a related field, along with with great persuasive writing and speaking skills
• At least 2 years of hands-on experience in marketing
• A solid grasp of social media and some experience working with bloggers would be a plus!

Duties:

• Build positive working relationships with Homeless Remedies Inc.'s Chief Executive Officer, Chief Operating Officer, and board members
• Share best practices and ideas to help spread the word about all the wonderful things Homeless Remedies Inc. offers in our communities
• Keep an eye on social media trends and help the brand shine online by managing its presence
• Create engaging content and work on optimizing the website for search engines, plus oversee regular updates to keep things fresh
• ​Plan and organize marketing initiatives, promotional events, and campaigns that bring people together
• Coordinate materials and content for marketing initiatives, ensuring everything is on point
• Develop creative publicity strategies and events to attract new supporters and keep current funders engaged
• Take on exciting tasks to help raise the organization's profile and boost revenues
• Keep the Board of Directors in the loop about marketing initiatives, events, and campaigns
• Prepare follow-up reports on marketing projects to share during board meetings
• Join the Board of Directors' fundraising committee and make a positive impact

Board responsibilities:

• Join at least three board meetings each year
• ​Support the board member "Give and Get" commitment of $500 to Homeless Remedies Inc. (given in a lump sum upon joining or in three installments within three months)
• Be familiar with Homeless Remedies Inc.'s mission and policies in order to become an effective advocate for the organization
• Follow bylaws and policies and assist with making decisions that guide meetings
• Be a shining ambassador for Homeless Remedies Inc.
• Get involved in fundraising efforts and help develop our resources
• Keep internal matters confidential to maintain trust within the organization
