Youth Program Co-Facilitator
Travel Unity, a nonprofit dedicated to fostering inclusivity, cultural understanding, and personal development among youth volunteers, is seeking Volunteer Co-Facilitator for its youth programs.
Volunteer Co-Facilitators play a vital role in guiding and mentoring the youth participants in Travel Unity's volunteer program. They empower and inspire the next generation of leaders, enhance mentoring and facilitation skills, and serve as part of a diverse and passionate community of like-minded individuals.
Responsibilities include:
- Hosting Weekly Zoom Meetings: engage, discuss progress, and build a strong sense of community among youth volunteers.
- Curriculum Implementation: follow the provided curriculum plan and use the designated slides to facilitate engaging and interactive sessions. The curriculum is designed to promote personal growth, leadership skills, and global awareness among the participants.
- Mentorship: offer guidance and support to the youth volunteers throughout their journey in the program. Be a role model and help them develop essential life skills, fostering a positive and nurturing environment.
- Communication Skills: demonstrate excellent communication and active listening skills to effectively engage with the participants, encouraging open dialogue and constructive discussions.
- Empathy and Emotional Intelligence: display empathy and emotional intelligence to create a safe and supportive space for participants, understanding and addressing their feelings and perspectives.
- Neutrality and Impartiality: remain neutral and impartial throughout the process, allowing the group to explore ideas freely and make collective decisions.
- Adaptability: adapt facilitation approach and style to suit the unique needs and dynamics of the group.
- Time Management: effectively manage time during sessions to cover all agenda items and ensure discussions stay on schedule.
- Group Dynamics Understanding: utilize knowledge of group dynamics and decision-making processes to manage interactions and foster collaboration among participants.
- Creativity and Innovation: encourage creative thinking and innovative solutions using various facilitation techniques to stimulate idea generation.
- Facilitation Techniques: utilize a range of facilitation techniques, such as brainstorming, mind mapping, and role-playing, to engage participants and drive effective discussions.
- Respect for Diversity: value and respect diversity among participants, creating an inclusive environment where all voices are heard and considered.
Time commitment:
This role requires a commitment of approximately 2 hours per week. Weekly Zoom meetings will take place in the evening, around 5:30 p.m. (EST), and an additional facilitators meeting takes place 1 hour a week.This opportunity requires volunteers to complete several steps:
