2024 Literacy and Math Tutors
GiGi’s Playhouse Down Syndrome Achievement Center Westchester is looking for literacy and math tutors to join its team. Volunteer Literacy and Math Tutors will be tutoring on a one-on-one basis. Previous tutoring experience is not necessary; full training and support are provided.
Literacy and Math sessions run for 15 weeks (three sessions per year); the total commitment will be 1-2 hours per week. The schedule is flexible and this opportunity takes place in person, but volunteers can opt for virtual tutoring as well.
Session schedule:
- Registration for the 2024 season ends on January 6, 2024
- Spring 2024 Session runs from January 21-May 5
- Summer 2024 Session runs from June-August
- Fall 2024 Session runs from September-December
Volunteer requirements:
- Must be 16+
- Attend a one-hour orientation
- Attend at least one observation
- Attend one virtual training
- Complete online training courses and participate in a tutor workshop (times to be decided)
- Once these requirements have been fulfilled, a background check will be submitted
