Domestic Violence Program Educators (Remote)
VCS Inc. (formally Volunteer Counseling Services) provides accessible and affordable counseling services and family support programs for those who need it. VCS is seeking adult volunteers to become instructors who manage its Domestic Violence Program for Men. This program is offered to court-mandated men via remote class sessions.
Volunteer Educators are not serving in the role of police officers, probation officers, or therapists. Instead, they will facilitate discussion and share what may sound like new ideas and information that, if applied, can help men change their behavior if they choose to. The primary goal of the program is to help men comply with their court order.
Volunteer requirements:
- Must be 21+
- Must have access to internet and a digital device
- Must be available during the evening
Training requirements:
- Must have command of the subject matter and learn how to manage sessions as well as the men's behavior during sessions
- Must attend staff development meetings
- Must observe two sessions per week for at least eight weeks
All volunteers will receive training and then they will begin co-instructing sessions. To ensure readiness, a new instructor will never instruct alone. This work can be extremely challenging and also satisfying—express interest below to learn more!
