2024-2025 Graduate-Level Senior Care Intern
Wartburg Adult Care Community is seeking a graduate-level intern who is eager to gain practical experience in senior care, housing management, and the healthcare industry. Working closely with Wartburg's team, the intern will contribute to Wartburg's mission of providing high-quality care and services that nurture the body, mind, and spirit of its senior residents.
Key Responsibilities:
- Senior Care
- Assist in the development and implementation of person-centered care plans for residents
- Observe and interact with residents to understand their needs and preferences
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals and caregivers to ensure resident well-being
- Support activities and programs designed to enhance residents' quality of life
- Housing Management
- Assist with housing-related tasks, including occupancy management, maintenance coordination, and room assignments
- Work on housing projects, such as renovations, room upgrades, and facility improvements
- Maintain accurate housing records and assist with billing and invoicing as needed
- Healthcare Support
- Collaborate with healthcare professionals in the facility, such as nurses and therapists, to support residents' healthcare needs
- Observe and document resident vital signs and health status as required
- Assist with medication management and ensure adherence to healthcare protocols
- Community Engagement
- Participate in community events and activities to build positive relationships with residents and their families
- Promote a sense of belonging and well-being within the facility's community
- Quality Improvement
- Collect and analyze data related to senior care and housing operations
- Assist in quality improvement initiatives and help implement changes to enhance resident experiences
Qualifications:
- Must be currently enrolled in a graduate program in a relevant field such as Healthcare Administration, Gerontology, Social Work, or a related discipline
- Must have compassion, empathy, and a genuine interest in working with the senior population
- Must have strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Must be able to work as part of a team and adapt to a dynamic environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a plus
