Reading Room Volunteers
The Westchester County Archives serves as the central repository for the County’s historical governmental records, dating from 1680 to the present. It's looking for volunteers to support patrons doing research in its Reading Room, such as suggesting and retrieving material and helping to respond to reference requests received by mail. Some standing, walking, and occasionally lifting of document boxes and oversized bound volumes is required. Volunteer training consists of on-the-job apprenticeships under the supervision of Manager of the Reading Room as well as instruction on the Archives and its collections.
Responsibilities and qualifications:
- Enjoy interacting with the public
- Interest in local history
- Comfortable using computers
- Ability to read handwriting and cursive
Time Commitment:
- 9 a.m.-12 p.m. every Wednesday
