Evening Recreation Volunteers
The New York State Veterans Home at Montrose is looking for volunteers to assist with evening recreation programming for its residents. Evening Recreation Therapy Volunteers typically serve from 6-8 p.m. and can assist with any of the following:
- Friendly visits (one-on-one conversations)
- BINGO games
- Pokeno games
- Card games
- Fitness activities
- Arts and music activities
- Providing coverage for activity facilitators as needed
Volunteer requirements:
- Must be friendly and patient
- Must be able to read and verbalize clearly
- Must be able to push a resident in a wheelchair
- Must pass a background check
- Must provide vaccination records (COVID, flu, MMR, etc.)
- Must pass a two-step (multi-day) PPD test for tuberculosis
- Must complete a four-hour orientation
Volunteers can receive community service hours provided they meet all requirements and serve hours. Express interest below!
