Food Distribution Backup Team Leader (Wednesday Evenings)
Wednesday evening is Ossining Food Pantry's largest food distribution day, which typically serves over 250 families. A volunteer is needed to partner with the current Team Leader to provide additional support and back up as necessary.
Team Leader responsibilities include:
- Coordinating weekly volunteer schedules to ensure adequate coverage of all tasks
- Oversee the work of over 20+ volunteers
- Provide access to the facility for the volunteers
- Work with both volunteers and community clients throughout the evening to troubleshoot issues in real time
- Assist with computer check-in procedures
- Assist at food stations to restock tables, assist clients with food selection, etc. as needed
- Ensure equitable allocation of food supplies, particularly limited or low-stock items (i.e. fresh fruit, vegetables, eggs, meat, baked goods) based on weekly availability
- Introduce and train new volunteers to pantry procedures
- Supervise and provide attestation of service hours for community service volunteers
- Facilitate tidying up at the evening's end and close and lock up the facility
Team Leaders should have good communication skills, patience, and must be willing to learn all areas of the Wednesday distribution. A working knowledge of Spanish is extremely helpful, but not required. Express interest below!
