Pastoral Care Volunteers
The New York State Veterans Home at Montrose is seeking volunteers to assist in various capacities in support of the Pastoral Care Department.
Duties may include:
- Transportation of residents to religious services in the building
- Provide one-to-one visits for residents who may need additional spiritual or emotional support
- Assist as needed during religious services such as:
- Catholic Mass (Mondays from 9 a.m.-12 p.m.)
- Jewish Services (Tuesdays from 9-10:30 a.m.)
- Bible Study (Wednesdays from 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m.)
- Nondemoninational worship services (Thursdays from 9:30 a.m.-12 p.m.)
Volunteer requirements:
- Must be friendly and patient
- Must be able to read and verbalize clearly
- Must be able to push a resident in a wheelchair
- Must pass a background check
- Must provide vaccination records (COVID, flu, MMR, etc.)
- Must pass a two-step (multi-day) PPD test for tuberculosis
- Must complete a four-hour orientation
Volunteers can receive community service hours provided they meet all requirements and serve hours. Express interest below!
