Volunteer Event Greeters and Door Holders
Westchester Library System is looking for volunteers to assist guests attending its upcoming workshop, "Why Reasonably Accommodate People with Disabilities?" This event helps member libraries better serve adults with intellectual and developmental disabilities. The doors at the front entrance of the Westchester Library System building are notoriously heavy, so volunteers will be asked to help greet arrivals and hold the doors for anyone with accessibility needs.
Volunteer requirements:
- Be friendly and welcoming while greeting guests upon arrival and departure
- Be able to hold open a (somewhat) heavy door for all guests, especially those using wheelchairs
- Provide clear, verbal directions to the elevator to access the event space (4th floor), and guide them toward the elevator, if needed
- Wear business-casual attire
- Bilingual skills not required, but appreciated!
The volunteers can be provided chairs, refreshments, and even reading material if needed. Express interest below!
Age Minimum (with Adult): 18+, Minimum Age:18+
