2024 Moves for Mental Health Event Volunteers
One Paso™ is a Yonkers-based nonprofit that provides mental health education and support to BIPOC communities, and it is seeking volunteers to help provide support during its annual BIPOC Mental Health Month event.
The Moves for Mental Health event aims to destigmatize mental health by highlighting the mind-body connection. The goal is to encourage overall physical and mental wellness through steps that are attainable on a daily basis. This includes providing the community with resources that can help alleviate gaps tied to social drivers of health, which are typically what cause daily stress. The event includes free community resources, art activities, barbecue, a deejay, photo booth, dance classes, wellness presentations, and much more.
Volunteers are needed for the following shifts:
- Set Up Volunteers (11 a.m.-1 p.m.): set up decorations, tables, chairs and refreshments, and help direct event participants to event location
- Event Volunteers (1 p.m.-5 p.m): help at registration table, hand out event resources, explain event activities to attendees, help attendees find their way around, keep track of event attendees count
Skills needed:
- Spanish-speaking
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Ability to work with others
- Ability to lift up to 15 pounds
