Co-Treasurer

Since 1988, the Westchester Martin Luther King, Jr. Institute for Nonviolence (WMLKI) has been committed to advancing nonviolence and social justice. Inspired by Dr. King and the Civil Rights Movement, the organization fosters safe spaces for both youth and adults, championing inclusivity, courage, and peace. Through collaborative efforts, it advocates for justice, equity, and shared power, while raising awareness about community violence and promoting nonviolent solutions.

The Institute is seeking a Co-Treasurer to join its dedicated team and manage its financial accounts and budgeting.

Key responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage financial transactions and budgeting
  • Prepare and present financial reports to the board of directors
  • Ensure compliance with financial regulations and policies
  • Coordinate with accountants and financial institutions
  • Assist in developing and monitoring financial strategies
  • Reconcile bank statements and bookkeeping ledgers
  • Present financial data to managers, investors, and other stakeholders
  • Maintain accurate financial records and generate financial reports
  • Create periodic financial reports, including balance sheets and profit/loss statements
  • Attend one virtual board meeting every three months

Qualifications:

  • Experience in accounting, finance, or a related field
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with a diverse team
  • Previous experience with non-profit financial management is a plus but not required
  • Highly organized, proactive, and capable of working independently
  • Experience with QuickBooks and Quicken preferred
  • 1+ years of professional accounting experience, including software and data entry
