Tree Planting Volunteers
Volunteers are needed to plant trees and shrubs in the Sparkill Creek Watershed.
Activities include:
- Digging holes
- Planting trees and shrubs
- Hammering and preparing support posts and fencing
- Preparing protective plastic tubes around trees
Volunteer requirements:
- Must be able to perform physical labor
- Must be able to carry up to 30 pounds
- Must wear closed-toe and durable shoes and clothing that can get dirty
- Must be prepared to walk on wet, uneven terrain
This activity is in collaboration with the New York State Department of Conservation's "Trees for Tribs" program. All volunteers will be trained in proper planting and placement techniques; shovels, tools, bug spray, and gloves will all be provided, but volunteers are encouraged to bring their own if available. Refreshments like water, doughnuts, and coffee will b provided, but volunteers should bring their own lunch. Sign up below!
