Volunteer Drivers
Guiding Eyes for the Blind is seeking compassionate and reliable volunteer drivers to assist blind or visually impaired individuals with essential tasks such as grocery shopping, running errands, and providing transportation.
Responsibilities:
- Provide transportation for blind individuals to and from local stores, appointments, and activities
- Assist with shopping by gathering items from a list given by the clientele and bring the items back to the Guiding Eyes for the Blind campus
- Offer a friendly, supportive presence while ensuring the person's comfort and independence
Requirements:
- A valid driver's license and a clean driving record
- Guiding Eyes will supply a vehicle, or you may drive your own
- Ability to comfortably assist with shopping needs
- A patient, kind attitude and the desire to make a difference in someone’s life
- Willingness to undergo basic orientation/training on working with the blind community
Time commitment:
- Flexible (2-4 hours per week, based on the volunteer's availability)
Volunteer drivers make a direct and meaningful impact in the lives of individuals who are undergoing guide dog training.
