ESL Tutors - Ossining - recreate and delete

Volunteer Tutors are needed to work one-on-one or in small groups with adult English language learners to help them practice their conversational skills. Conversations may include practicing vocabulary related to the learners' jobs, practicing basic personal questions and answers, words to help them talk to and understand their kids' teachers, words or expressions they hear all the time but don't understand, words related to different kinds of shopping, weather, clothing, adjectives to describe things, simple grammatical structures, and more.

Volunteers are provided with textbooks for visual support of vocabulary, ideas for conversation topics, and simple grammar exercises, though volunteers and learners are encouraged to chat about anything and everything if it's helpful for the student and they are practicing their English!

Many learners participate in Neighbors Link's more formal ESL classes with instructors, so they have a good foundation to work from. Still, the ESL Tutoring program is a chance for them to apply and practice their conversational skills and learn more—and give tutors a chance to get to know the learners and have interesting conversations!

The mission of Neighbors Link is to strengthen the whole community by actively enhancing the healthy integration of immigrants. Neighbors Link provides innovative and impact driven programming to immigrant families and works to empower clients to successfully navigate community resources and to foster client leadership.
