India Center of Westchester's mission is to serve as the social and cultural center where Indian Americans originating from all parts of India could gather and build a strong, supportive community for present and future generations; to be a key resource for learning all aspects of Indian culture: language, traditions, music, dance and other activities representing the interests of Indian Americans of all ages, both within and outside the community; to provide a venue for the functions and gatherings of the various ethnic communities to get together on a regular basis that constitute India: Gujarat, Kerala, Andhra, Punjab, Goa, etc.; to provide a senior citizen center for senior citizens of Indian American origin; and to provide a resource for Americans who have an interest in India, its culture, its people, its cuisine, its mythology and its democratic traditions. India Center of Westchester, located in Hawthorne, NY, is a secular, non-profit organization which seeks to promote and preserve the rich, diverse and vast cultural heritage of India, while providing essential services to its hyphenated community, both in its regional and its mainstream aspects. The Center opens its doors wide for everyone within the community and beyond, irrespective of their racial, ethnic, religious, political or socio-economic backgrounds. In order to achieve these goals, India Center has launched a plethora of activities at its premises in Hawthorne, ranging from instruction in language, music, dance, art or any other subject to a support system for new immigrants and seniors for all its members.
