Volunteer New York! Announces Interim Executive Director

TARRYTOWN, NY – January 30, 2025 – Volunteer New York!, a Westchester, NY-based nonprofit organization committed to fostering community engagement through volunteerism and civic action, is pleased to announce the appointment of Suzanne C. Tillman as its Interim Executive Director.

Suzanne brings over 20 years of nonprofit leadership experience, having previously served as Interim Executive Director at three organizations, including Girls Inc. of Westchester County and as program officers at organizations such as NYC Outward Bound Schools. Rooted in a first career in corporate HR at Pfizer, Suzanne is known for her thoughtful and balanced style, leading with both “head and heart.” Her expertise in change management, operational strategy, and cultural alignment makes her an ideal leader to guide Volunteer New York! through this transitional period.

“Volunteer New York! is more relevant than ever, serving as a beacon for individuals who want to connect, contribute, and make a difference in their community,” Suzanne shares. “I’m honored to join this organization during its 75th anniversary and look forward to supporting its incredible team, volunteers, and partners as we continue mobilizing for impact where it is most needed.”

Suzanne’s appointment follows the departure of long-time Executive Director Jeanette Gisbert, whose 16 years of dedicated service helped significantly expand Volunteer New York!’s reach and impact. As Interim Executive Director, Suzanne will focus on ensuring the organization’s day-to-day operations remain strong while preparing the groundwork for new leadership.
